Electrical verification prior to commissioning
Direct current (DC) power supply systems play a vital role in industrial installations where reliable power is essential for equipment and control systems. For this reason, the verification of distribution boards prior to their commissioning is a key stage of the engineering process.
At Ingemation Ingeniería, we have carried out Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on 220 VDC (volts direct current) UPS-DC distribution boards, with the aim of verifying their compliance with the electrical diagrams, technical documentation and the acceptance criteria established for the project.
Scope of electrical tests
The test procedure includes a series of checks to assess the electrical integrity of the assemblies, verify the correct configuration of its components and the operation of the associated signals.
The main checks carried out include:
- Continuidad eléctrica: verificación de los circuitos entre los embarrados positivo y negativo, las protecciones y las bornas de salida, así como de los contactos auxiliares de las protecciones.
- Protection devices and connections: checking the rated characteristics of the protection devices, the suitability of terminal sizes and the tightening torques of bolted connections, in accordance with the applicable specifications.
- Insulation resistance: measurements at 500 V between the positive and negative busbars, and between each of them and earth, to verify that the values obtained meet the established acceptance criteria.
- Dielectric strength: application of a test voltage of 2,120 V during the specified procedure, using a 30-second ramp, to verify the insulation’s ability to withstand the anticipated electrical stress
- Post-test insulation verification: repetition of the relevant measurements following the dielectric strength test, to verify that the insulation maintains the required values.
- Measurements and signals: checking terminal voltages and validating the communication signals displayed on the HMI screen, by comparing them with the available statuses and signals
Checks to be carried out in preparation for commissioning
Each test allows a specific aspect of the switchboard to be assessed, ranging from circuit continuity to insulation behaviour and the correspondence of monitoring signals. Together, these checks help verify that the assemblies meet the specified requirements before commissioning.
La ejecución de estas pruebas, conforme al procedimiento aprobado, permite detectar posibles desviaciones antes del envío de los equipos y disponer de evidencias de verificación previas a su instalación y puesta en servicio.
